Trump’s poem

Most people who know Donald Trump know him from his appearances in the media. He was a regular on television and radio talk shows for years where he bragged about his sexual exploits, his business machinations, and how he used the lower classes to increase his wealth.

He was known for his many sexual exploits especially those that involved the women who would become his wives and on whom he had cheated with their successors.

He was known as a lech, and, if anyone doubted that, we heard the tapes on how he forced himself on single women, especially young ones, and other men’s wives, and how he could grab a woman’s genitals because he is a celebrity

He was known for a lot of bragging about his greatness as a businessman even as his six bankruptcies were well known.

He was not known to be a man of religion having never displayed any religiosity, but to the opposite ignored the teachings of Christ in his actions.

He was known for the many lawsuits against him in the workers’ and contractors’ attempts to get paid for work performed.

He was known to hire undocumented immigrants who would not be able to complain about being paid far below scale or even the minimum wage.

He was known to never have experienced a middle class existence having been given an allowance by his father that amounted to millions by the time he reached his majority, and then a gift of a few million to start a business.

He never mixed with the common man, and his lawsuits preventing the regular guy to rent his properties are well known.

We learned all about this over the years from his own lips over the air.

Who he is is no surprise, and what he is people ignored.

In his campaign and again in New Hampshire this week he quoted a poem he presents as representing those who come to this country by any means necessary for the betterment of their families.

But, like much of what he says, it is deflection and misdirection. Like he does so often, he reveals who he is in his attempts to claim who others are.

On her way to work one morning

Down the path alongside the lake

A tender-hearted country saw a poor half-frozen snake

His pretty orange skin had been all frosted with the dew.

“Oh well,” she cried, “I’ll vote for you and I’ll take care of you.”

She wrapped him up all cozy in a curvature of silk,

And then laid him by the fireside with some honey and some milk.

Now she hurried home from work that night as soon as she arrived

She found that pretty snake she’d voted in had been revived.

Now she clutched him to her bosom, “You’re so beautiful,” she cried

“But if I hadn’t voted for you by now you might have died”

Now she stroked his orange skin and then she kissed and held him tight

But instead of saying thanks, that snake gave her a vicious bite.

“I elected you,” cried that woman

“And you’ve bit me even, why?

You know your bite is poisonous and now I’m going to die”

“Oh shut up, silly supporter,” said the reptile with a grin

“You knew damn well I was a snake before you voted me in.”
