It is treason, plain and simple

There is something rather treasonous going on when members of Congress pledge fealty to foreign powers.

When President Obama went with sanctions against Vladimir Putin, as opposed taking military action both direct and indirect, GOP congressmen praised Putin for being a stronger and a much better leader than our president, the man who was put in office twice by a vote of the American people.

But it was all talk, as Congress took no action of its own.

And Freedom of speech allows for expressing opinions no matter how treasonous they might appear to some.

Of course, now that Russia is having a financial melt down, and President Obama’s strategy seems to be working, the same people are exercising their freedom not to speak.

The problem comes in if the elected members of Congress take actions against the President of the United States and in support of the actions and policies of foreign heads of state.

Like they seem to be preparing to do now.

Senator Lindsey Graham was in Jerusalem recently where he pledged not only his, but the loyalty of his fellow Republicans in Congress to President Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.

He pledged that the Republican-controlled Congress would follow Netanyahu’s lead on foreign policy when it came to the Middle East.

As Graham put it, “the Congress will follow your lead” when it comes to dealing with Iran, even if that is not what the President of the United States wants.

“The United States Congress, above all entities in America, has your back in a very bipartisan way”.

Graham is slated to become the chairman of the Foreign Appropriations Subcommittee when the Republicans assume control of the Senate in a few days, so he will be in a position to make good on his pledge.

He even went so far as to reveal his ignorance as to the United Nations’s mission to maintain peace in the world by attempting international cooperation when he assured Bebe that,

“Any effort by the French, the Jordanians or anyone to avoid direct negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians over the peace process, anyone who tries to take this to the U.N. Security Council, there will be a violent backlash by the Congress that could include suspending funding to the United Nations. We will not sit back and allow the United Nations to take over the peace process.”

Israel’s actions toward the Palestinians of late have been less than peaceful, bordering on genocide, and finding a peaceful solution to this is what the United Nations is for.

Yet, Graham has pledged a foreign head of state that Congress would put the hurt on it, a “violent backlash”, if the U.N. does anything that Israel might not want it to do.

Our next chairman of the Foreign Appropriations Subcommittee is basically pledging to a foreign leader that he will advocate betraying this country and our president.

He and his cohorts will work against any action our president might attempt to bring peace to the Middle East if Netanyahu does not agree with it.

If this promised “violent backlash” includes war, Congress can declare it even if the president opposes it, and our men and women in the armed forces will be off to fight a war at the behest of a foreign country.

This is treason.
