Building The Congressional XL Pipeline

The Republicans in the Senate are supposed to be representing the American people.

Right now the American people need jobs, and creating jobs is one of the GOP’s biggest arguments for supporting the Keystone XL Pipeline.

They like to point out that, beyond the jobs created from the actual building of the pipeline, there will be secondary jobs created because food and shelter will be needed, and as the pipeline is built, workers will bring business to the towns along the way.

It’ all about “jobs, jobs’ jobs”.

The pipeline will help Americans.

But when Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey added an amendment to the Keystone bill that would have prohibited oil shipped through the pipeline from being exported, but rather used domestically, it was defeated 57 to 42.

Minnesota Senator Al Franken attempted to add an amendment that would require that the pipeline be built with American steel, but his amendment was defeated 53 to 46.

So, the possibility that the American people could benefit from the oil that is presently slated to merely pass though the country to deep water ports in Texas to be ship to china, was rejected by the Senate.

The jobs that could be created, or even saved, by steel made domestically was also rejected in favor of using foreign steel.

How is that beneficial for the people that congress represents?

Now we have to see which company’s steel is used, which country it comes from, and which members of the Senate have shares in it.

The Senate voted against jobs for Americans.

I guess it’s okay, though. Rather than have foreigners come into the country to take jobs Americans can do, congress will just send the jobs to the foreigners.

The jobs get done, and the foreigners stay away.

The unemployed American workers can always get help from the government.

Oh, wait.
