According to John Boehner, every bill is a jobs bill, and attempting to repeal legislation is the same as enacting it.

That explains why 56 attempts at repealing the Affordable Care Act should be viewed as promoting jobs bills and those attempting the repeal to be effective legislators.

And it doesn’t take the repeal of the complete ACA to be successful, but only repealing parts of it to show success and an interest in the American people.

But this has me stumped.

Since the GOP has not been able to present an alternative to the healthcare plan, the ACA that they say is absolutely the worst thing to happen to the American people since slavery, the party has had to present little tweaks to it they think will win people over to their way of thinking,

Senators Richard Burr of North Carolina, Orrin Hatch of Utah, and Fred Upton of Michigan have proposed what they call the “Patient Choice, Affordability, Responsibility, and Empowerment Act” which, besides reducing the tax subsidies that help people purchase private plans and eliminating Medicaid expansion, would drop the current requirement for insurers to offer coverage for maternity care.

Some legislators object to maternity care coverage because it will just drive up costs unnecessarily because having children is a choice and not everyone needs maternity care. It does not apply to men after all.

Conservatives want women to have babies, but they object to helping to cover the cost of having them.

Without the ACA as it is, because they get pregnant, women have had higher premiums than men, and since men do not need birth control, mammograms, Pap smears, and maternity care, they paid less.

Because childbirth in the United States costs more than anywhere else in the world, giving birth here without any type of insurance coverage is a financial burden for most women, and without getting the maternal care they can presently afford there would be less healthy pregnancies and fewer healthy babies.

The good old days.

I guess Right to life is applicable only to the unseen fetus without any consideration given to having them born safely. After all, since they are born, they can be ignored anyway.

Senator Tom Harkin, a Democrat from Iowa, objected to this proposed legislation and why it is important for more than just the pregnant women when he explained, “Maybe because my wife and I do not have any more children and they are grown up, maybe I should not have to pay property taxes to pay for my local schools. We are better than that in this country. We are talking about being part of our society. It is to our benefit, my wife and I, to support our local schools because that is our next generation, we want them well taught. Same with health care. It is a values system.”

According to the Washington Post, even though the proposed bill seem to be only that of the three senators “health policy aides for Burr, Hatch and Upton said this plan could be the basis for the party’s long-term vision for health reform.”
