Donald Trump claims to be a self-made millionaire who made a fortune in real estate, but when it came to his real estate investments he abused the bankruptcy laws to make his fortune.
Basically he made large-scale deals that attracted investors and banks, collected huge profits for the first year, then fired the financial analysts that advised him that the business models were not sustainable, and sued the ones who publicly spoke about the businesses. He followed this by filing bankruptcy for those businesses, and, while voluntarily stepping down as owner, he retained profitable ties to the companies.
While Trump walked away with millions and his good credit score, banks saved their investments by increasing service fees and interest rates, and lowering interest earned payments for individual accounts. He found a legal way to skim dollars from everyone.
“I have used the laws of this country … the [bankruptcy] chapter laws, to do a great job for my company, for myself, for my employees, for my family,” he admitted during the first Republican presidential debate.
And in an interview in 2011with George Stephanopoulos, he explained,
“I’ve used the laws of this country to pare debt. …We’ll have the company. We’ll throw it into a chapter. We’ll negotiate with the banks. We’ll make a fantastic deal. You know, it’s like on ‘The Apprentice’. It’s not personal. It’s just business.”
He is fond of other types of lawsuits to make his money suits like
-Bankruptcies that are part of the bigger real-estate ventures,
-Slander suits initiated whenever anyone speaks against him. Because he licenses his own name as a corporate brand, anyone using his name in a public arena without his consent commits a corporate crime.
In 1987 he was Republican, in 1999 an Independent, in 2001 a Democrat, in 2009 a Republican, in 2011 an Independent, and now he is a Republican again.
Before running for President he was strongly Liberal and supported universal health care, was Pro Choice, donated to the Clinton administration in 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2007, invited Hillary to his wedding, donated over $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation, but now calls Hillary “the worst secretary of state in the history of the United States ” and blames her for international relations problems.
In 1990 he stated “You have to legalize drugs to win that war. You have to take the profit away from these drug czars”, but is now against legalization of Marijuana
In 2000 he wrote, “I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun”, but now claims he is a strong advocate for the 2nd amendment.
While claiming the United States has made “horrendous and unfair trade deals” with Mexico, his own line of highly profitable suits sold at Macy’s are made in Mexico, and although Trump says he will end trade agreements with China, he also outsources clothing manufacturing to Chinese companies.

Trump steadfastly insists throughout his campaign that he opposed the Iraq War before it began.
“I said, ‘Don’t hit Iraq’ because you’re going to totally destabilize the Middle East. I’m the one that made all of the right predictions about Iraq.”
But in 2002 he responded to a question by Howard Stern about whether or not he favored a possible invasion with, “Yeah, I guess so. know, I wish the first time it was done correctly”, and after the invasion told Fox News the invasion “looks like a tremendous success from a military standpoint.”
But when questioned about this apparent contradiction, just as with David Duke and the John Miller Tape, he reverted to denial of any knowledge of what he had said with, “I mean, I could have said that. Nobody asked me—I wasn’t a politician. It was probably the first time anybody asked me that question.”
Although, when it came to Israel and the conflict connected to it, he had claimed in December, “I want to be very neutral and see if I can get both sides together”, he recently changed that to “When I become president, the days of treating Israel like a second-class citizen will end on day one.”
He went from declaring that “Torture works” and the military would perform it because “Frankly, when I say they’ll do as I tell them, they’ll do as I tell them” to “I will not order a military officer to disobey the law. It is clear that as president I will be bound by laws just like all Americans and I will meet those responsibilities.”
But he hadn’t quite settled on his stance yet.
“We’re going to stay within the laws. But you know what we’re going to do? We’re going to have those laws broadened because we’re playing with two sets of rules: their rules and our rules.”
Perhaps he will change those laws after he erases the freedom of the press from the First Amendment so no one will say mean things about him.
And, finally, one last one.
In 2012, Trump called Clinton “a terrific woman” who “really works hard and I think she does a good job.”
But, now that he may be running against her, he claims she was the “worst secretary of state in the history of the United States.”
So all those people who support him have to keep an eye on the calendar and the wind so they will know where he stands on any given issue on any given day before the elections and especially after when they count on him to deliver on his promises.
