Leave Warren where she is

IMAG0370

There is a lot of talk and wishing that Elizabeth Warren will be tapped by Hillary Clinton to run as her vice-presidential nominee.

Warren is progressive and very well spoken, so it would seem to be a good decision.

But here’s the problem with that.

The present governor of Massachusetts is a Republican.

If Warren vacates her senate seat, (yes, Scott Brown, we know it is not her seat, but is the people’s seat, but we are dealing with reality here, not cuteness) the governor would in all likelihood fill her empty seat with someone from his own party, and that would mean one less Democrat and one more Republican in the senate.

Since some people say they will stay away from the polls because they do not like either presidential candidate any change in the balance of either house will not happen, and knowing how poor the voter turnout is at mid-term elections, the administration of Clinton/Warren would face an obstructionist House and Senate, and Warren would be rendered impotent.

Whatever good she could do for the middle class and progressive ideas would be prevented by a Republican run House and Senate, and any good she could have done as a senator would be prevented.

Senator Warren needs to stay where she is so that she can be effective.

As visual and as historic as it might be to have a female president and a female vice-president, if the GOP gave Obama such a hard time and did whatever they could to have him fail, you can just imagine how obstructed these two would be.

Elizabeth Warren needs to stay in the senate.
