We forget that this twenty minutes ruined his victim’s life, but we are led to believe that since she went and got drunk at a party, she didn’t exactly get something she didn’t deserve.

He has a respectable position at his place of employment where he has worked since high school, and for all intents and purposes lived as mundane a life as most of us do.

However, while having nothing to show other than a nice picture, and unable to come up with a scary background of crime, that did not stop the attempt to present him as anything but someone for whom we should have sympathy.

We are told he was a suspect in an armed robbery which was not true. We are told he had some minor traffic infractions like a dead headlight, or broken tail light, and some other such infractions that were dismissed in court.

Rather than looking at the past of the rogue police officer who shot the latter to see if there should have been any indication that he was capable of the action that took a life, we are being distracted by people hoping to find a justification for it because the victim certainly deserved it.

And, even if he did not deserve to get shot for his action this time, like our mothers justifying  a misapplied act of discipline and explaining it as its being for something we must have done that they just didn’t catch us doing, we seem to be running to that excuse to accept the unacceptable.

Perhaps in fairness, when someone commits a crime we should deal with the crime committed, and if someone is shot we should just deal with what led to the shooting and not look into the mists of time to hopefully find an irrelevant point to justify the shooting.
