One of these is not like the other.

On October 31, a Brown, non-Christian man drove a truck on the bicycle/pedestrian path in lower Manhattan. When I spent a summer in that area a while back, this path was just in the planning stages, but I did recognize the buildings that were in the background of the various televised news reports. Even though the path was only partially there then, it was always filled with walkers and cyclists, so I just knew there were a lot of people in the path of the truck.

The reaction from the president was swift and sure within hours on the same day.

He tweeted,

“In NYC, looks like another attack by a very sick and deranged person. Law enforcement is following this closely. NOT IN THE U.S.A.!”

“We must not allow ISIS to return, or enter, our country after defeating them in the Middle East and elsewhere. Enough!”

“I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program. Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!”

The next day he added,

“The terrorist came into our country through what is called the ‘Diversity Visa Lottery Program,’ a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based.”

“We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter). @foxandfriends”

At the beginning of his meeting with his cabinet on that Wednesday he also stated,

I am, today, starting the process of terminating the diversity lottery program. I am going to ask Congress to immediately initiate work to get rid of this program, diversity lottery, diversity lottery. Sounds nice, it is not nice, it is not good. It hasn’t been good and we have been against it.”

Yes, it was time to discuss and amend existing immigration policy. Such a reaction is consistent, after all this man represents every Brown person who could potentially commit a similar crime.

At the beginning of October, a White man shot and killed 58 people at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas.

The president waited two days before making a statement.

When he was asked about a bill crawling through Congress that would loosen restrictions on purchasing gun silencers, the use of which would have made the Las Vegas shooting much worse as a silencer does not only muffle the sound, but suppresses the flash of a gun, Trump said that he would talk about that later.

He described the gunman as

“a sick man, a demented man. We’re looking into him very, very seriously.”

He obviously was a lone gunman who represented no one but himself.

At her press conference on the following Monday after the shooting, Sarah Huckabee Sanders said,

“There’s a time and place for a political debate, but now is the time to unite as a country. There’s currently an open and ongoing law enforcement investigation, a motive is yet to be determined and it would be premature for us to discuss policy when we don’t fully know all the facts or what took place last night.”

When he was in Las Vegas on October 4 and was asked about possible legislative action on guns, Trump said,
The producing cost of this type of drug is very low as compared to what it ought to be born in mind that the viagra canada pharmacies data collated on Parkinson’s from certain parts of the planet, especially in less technologically developed nations, is patchy or unverifiable. “We’re not going to talk about that today. We won’t talk about that.”

Trump described the Vegas shooter as

“The wires were crossed pretty badly in his brain. Extremely badly in his brain. And it’s a very sad event.”

When he described the Brown guy it was,

“This animal who did the attacking.”

A man who killed over fifty people needs our empathy for his mental disorder while the Brown guy who killed eight needs our anger.

Four days after the Vegas shooting the president, when asked about the bump gun stock that makes a shooter’s rifle into a machine gun, Trump explained,

“We’ll be looking into that in the next short period of time.”

Concerning New York City he states,

.”We need quick justice and we need strong justice,”

Regarding Las Vega, a much deadlier attack, it’s

“We’ll be looking into that in the next short period of time”.

It’s a month after Vegas, but Trump hasn’t said anything on bump stocks.

Apparently, if  you are a white guy, regardless how many people you shoot you are a lone person worthy of our understanding, and we will eventually get around to some sort of response and action, but be a Brown guy, you are an animal, and everyone that looks like you or belongs to you religion becomes a suspect and must be banned from entering the country.

When the neo-nazis marched in Charlottesville, there were good and bad people on both sides.

When the South fought to preserve slavery, while the North fought to end it, there were people of good conscience on both sides.

When it comes to religion though, all Christians are good, while all Muslims are bad.

When it comes to acts of terror, White people are people whose wires are crossed pretty badly in their brains, but Brown people are animals.

When a White guy kills many people, “There’s a time and place for a political debate, but now is the time to unite as a country”.

When a Brown guy does it, even to a lesser degree, “Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!”
