The missing verses

We have been warned that Sharia law would be the ruination of the country. We must do everything to make sure this country is run by our laws, not by one religion.

So it is odd that to justify separating children from their families, regardless why they came to the border, the justification is based on the bible which would be no different than basing our laws and actions on the Koran.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions used the Bible to defend  the Department of Justice’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy that is separating thousands of families along the southern border.

“I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes. Orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves. Consistent, fair application of law is in itself a good and moral thing and that protects the weak, it protects the lawful. Our policies that can result in short-term separation of families are not unusual or unjustified.”

He was referencing the passage,

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”

Maybe Kim Jong Un isn’t that bad, after all he is the boss so God chose him and he must be obeyed.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders also cited the Bible in defense of family separation at the press briefing Thursday.

“It’s very biblical to enforce the law,” she said.

Here are some Bible verses that don’t seem to be in either one’s Bible:

Jeremiah 22:3-5 New International Version (NIV)

This is what the Lord says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place. For if you are careful to carry out these commands, then kings who sit on David’s throne will come through the gates of this palace, riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by their officials and their people. But if you do not obey these commands, declares the Lord, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’”

A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.  The next day he took out two denarii[and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
