While DACA only applies to those who have been living in this country since 2007, Trump now claims DACA is dangerous because people are about to stream across the border to benefit from it.
Last fall he ended a program that he obviously did not understand then and does not understand now, and decided to use the DREAMers as hostages to get taxpayer money to build the wall that he kept insisting that Mexico would pay for.
His basic approach was that if Congress wanted the DREAMers to have a pathway to citizenship and to be allowed to stay in the only country they ever knew, Congress must give over taxpayer dollars to build the wall.
Or else.
After watching Fox News and repeating a story about caravans of immigrants heading toward our Southern Border from Central America, Trump tweeted,
“Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. ‘Caravans’ coming.”
There is no “Catch & Release” law when it comes to people coming across the border.

The purpose of the caravan is to draw attention to the human rights abuses happening in Honduras and to get the U.S. Embassy to plead its case to government officials.
International law allows these people to seek asylum, and the violence they are fleeing which cannot be denied, is being caused by Honduras’s president ,Juan Orlando Hernandez, whom Trump supports.
Hernandez was losing the election in November when the vote count was abruptly halted and he was suddenly declared the winner. The deaths that resulted from the subsequent protests were added to those from the fighting between security forces, local gangs, and drug traffickers that is killing people not directly involved.
But Trump seems to like guys like Hernandez even as he ignores what they do to their citizens.
Now he is using these refugees as the reason Congress must give him our money to build the wall he said would be Mexico’s burden.
Obviously his intent was never to help the DREAMers. His intention was to be able to deliver on a wall that was a pipe dream. He is using them to cover his failed claim that he would deliver on his promise realizing now it is being seen for what it was- a ruse to use Brown people as the threat from which he, and only he, can save the White ones, not for their actually safety, but to get their votes an continued blind loyalty.
Now he is repeating a Fox News story to try to scare us into paying for his wall to protect us from the alleged invading hordes at the gate, the hordes our past Central American policies produced and the actions of someone Trump supports continues.
